BALFOUR Beatty has been recognised as a Considerate Constructor for its approach on three prestigious Scottish projects, the Scottish Crime Campus fit-out for the Scottish Government, 50 George Square for the University of Edinburgh and the Holyrood Student Accommodation project.

The Considerate Constructors’ Scheme (CCS), a national construction industry initiative that aims to raise the industry’s image, awarded Silver National Site Awards to all three sites. Under the scheme, organisations are monitored against a robust Code of Considerate Practice. The three projects scored well across all categories.
The CCS site monitors particularly commended the project team on the Scottish Crime Campus for its relationship with local businesses employed on the project. Their report stated that Balfour Beatty’s work in this area, where local businesses needed support, coaching and training particularly with health and safety and quality control processes and procedures “has proved to be particularly innovative and helps to advance the standards of the industry.”
At 50 George Square the team’s focus on a “Healthy Communities” drive was singled out. The site set up a blood pressure monitoring station.
