PROPERTY design curator Sara Seravalli has announced she will launch ‘Il Salotto’, a creative product gallery showcasing the best in design, in Glasgow’s Merchant City, in March 2025.
Il Salotto, which will be located at Merchant Exchange on the City’s Bell Street, will become the permanent home of Sara’s #DesignPopUp events, which have, for the past decade, brought together leaders in the specification market to allow them to showcase their work.
Il Salotto will also be available to hire as an event space for product launches or seminars.
The 3,300 sq. ft. display gallery will host events for the design, property and architectural sectors, and will also be the broadcast home for Sara’s ‘Il Salotto Sessions’ podcast.
‘Il Salotto’ is inspired by the literary cafes that spread throughout Europe in the 18th century, where people would gather to discuss politics, economics and progress. These became widespread in Sara’s home nation of Italy and sparked the idea of a space where innovators and designers can meet and converse.
With two decades of experience in managing and promoting showrooms in Milan, Paris and London, Sara is immersed in Scotland’s property sector and will use her relationship-building expertise to bring designers together with developers, specifiers, project managers and architects.
Sara said, “Over the last decade of hosting our regular #DesignPopUp events, it has become very clear that the best ideas and concepts come from meaningful conversations between people who have a passion for what they do. These exciting and enriching conversations laid the foundation for Il Salotto, a place where the Scottish design, property, architectural and construction sectors can come together to showcase their work, discuss ideas and inspire one another.
“I’m very excited to launch our new product gallery and events space, in an area of Glasgow where creative businesses are thriving.”
Sara will also launch ‘Il Salotto Club’ – a network of companies united by their involvement in the space, whose members will receive leads generated by visitors to the space and private networking opportunities.
Three re-imagined #DesignPopUp events are scheduled for 2025, offering the opportunity to explore product innovation, architectural design, and workshops.
