AKELA Construction, part of the Akela Group, has hailed a ‘solid’ first half of the year with a pipeline of new contract wins totalling £13.9 million across Scotland’s residential sector.
Spanning four key developments across the central belt, the contracts will support the delivery of almost 270 private, affordable and social homes.
In East Lothian, Akela was appointed by Barratt Homes to deliver a £5 million contract to deliver earthworks, drainage and plotworks for the phased construction of 101 private homes in Tranent. Work commenced in December 2025 and is due to be completed by December 2027.
Also in East Lothian, Taylor Wimpey East appointed Akela to complete a £3.9 million contract to provide earthworks, drainage and plotwork solutions for 73 private homes at Dolphingstone Phase 3. This project also started in December 2025 and is due to be completed by August 2028.
In Uphall, West Lothian, Akela has been awarded a £4 million groundworks package by Dundas Estates for a mixed development of 75 private and affordable homes. Also starting in December, Akela’s scope includes earthworks, drainage, road construction, foundations, floor slabs, hard landscaping and the installation of a dedicated pumping station and rising main. The works are due to be finished by February 2028.
Meanwhile in Glasgow, a £1 million contract with AS Homes began in March 2026 which will support the delivery of 19 social houses in Arden. The works package includes earthworks, drainage, foundation and slab construction, hard landscaping, road infrastructure and an offsite flood compensation area. Works are due to be finished by March 2027.
