AS Homes (Scotland) Ltd has completed the handover of 36 new affordable homes in Bellahouston in partnership with Home Group.

The properties are located at North Gower Street, on the former Bellahouston Academy site which has been transformed to provide much-needed homes for the surrounding Glasgow community.

The development includes a mix of one and two-bedroom flats with patios and private garden spaces. AS Homes said the properties provide a ‘welcoming’ neighbourhood landscaped with greenery, including trees, plants and hedges. A children’s play park has been provided, as well as on-site parking and cycle storage facilities.

Designed by George Buchanan Architects and located within a cluster of B-listed buildings,  all the homes are designed to support varying occupier needs and are Secure By Design Gold accredited. The development incorporates solar PV panels and high-performance double-glazed windows.

Kieran Sexton, commercial director at AS Homes Scotland, said, “Strengthening our long standing relationship with Home Group, we’re excited to provide local people with new sustainable homes which will bring major benefits to the community. Bellahouston offers a dynamic location where families can grow and enjoy everything they need right on their doorstep.

“But like many other areas in the city and beyond, there is a noticeable need for quality homes. This development represents another step in our journey to helping tackle Glasgow’s housing emergency  and we look forward to progressing an exciting pipeline of new homes in 2024.”

Andrew Campbell, development and delivery manager at Home Group, added, “Home Group has been delivering a significant amount of social housing and affordable homes across Glasgow for a number of years. This development at Bellahouston is yet another example of building the right homes in the right places. We know how important it is to help people who were brought up in their communities to remain in their communities.”
