Ground broken on rural Stirlingshire village housing project

THE JR Group has broken ground on a new housing development in the village of Croftamie, Stirlingshire, on behalf of Rural Stirling Housing Association (RSHA).

The site is located next to the village’s Buchanan Crescent and will include 14 new homes, comprising a mix of cottage flats and houses, all managed by RSHA for social rent.

The homes will feature air source heat pumps and fire safety sprinkler systems provided by The JR Group’s in-house division, Sprinkler Scotland Ltd.

The total cost of the 14 homes is £3.5 million, of which £2.4 million is being funded by the Scottish Government’s Affordable Housing Supply Programme. Stirling Council is providing £140,000 and the balance is being met by RSHA.

The design partners helping to deliver the project include Collective Architecture, G3 Consulting Engineers, Brownriggs and Macdonald & Cameron.

Gary McGregor, MD for The JR Group, said, “New socially rented homes in the rural villages are vital, so it is great to be working with Rural Stirling Housing Association to bring this project to fruition. The project has been in the pipeline for quite some time, so it is great to finally be commencing work on the development.

“The housetypes we are developing address the requirement for smaller sized, affordable housing in the area. With energy efficiency at the forefront, we are delivering these units to a very high standard to provide fantastic homes fit for the future. We look forward to building our relationship with Rural Stirling Housing Association and progressing with the project in the coming months.”

Mark Griffiths, chair of RSHA, added, “The Croftamie development represents our continuing commitment to building affordable homes in rural communities, which we know are much needed. It also forms part of an extensive RSHA development programme of new homes, which has been ongoing across the Stirling council area for some time.

“Energy efficiency remains a key component in these new properties in order to provide warm and comfortable homes. We look forward to the day when we can welcome tenants to our new development in Croftamie. RSHA acknowledges the crucial role both the Scottish Government and Stirling Council are playing in helping to fund our new homes.”
