BERWICKSHIRE Housing Association (BHA) has appointed Hart Builders to carry out the first phase of a new build housing development in Beanburn, Ayton.
The £5.3 million project is the fifth to be delivered by Hart Builders in partnership with BHA and will bring the total number of homes they have completed jointly to 129.
The 31 new homes are due to complete in summer next year and will provide a mix of bungalows, wheelchair accessible properties and three and four-bedroom family homes.
Andy Mallice, MD of Hart Builders said, “This development follows on from several successful projects we have delivered over the past four years for Berwickshire Housing Association. We are delighted to continue our strong working relationship with the Association, and designers Smith Scott Mullan and Harley Haddow, to bring 31 quality homes to the area.
“Hart Builders, as part of the Cruden Group, ensures that all developments support the local community, and on this development, we will be offering opportunities to local sub-contractors to ensure we maximise the benefits of the project for the local economy. We are also pleased to make a donation to the local primary school to help deliver improvements to their playground.”
Berwickshire Housing Association’s chief executive, Helen Forsyth added, “We are delighted to appoint Hart Builders to deliver these new homes in Beanburn. The new development is part of BHA’s ongoing commitment to meet the demand for much needed quality affordable housing in the area.”
The Cruden Group has worked with Unite, the Scottish Building Federation, Scottish Futures Trust and Construction Scotland to develop and test site protocols in relation to Covid-19 and demonstrate examples of best practice. Hart Builders said it will work with colleagues, sub-contractors and suppliers to enforce and monitor the new procedures at the Beanburn development.
