THE construction phase of Dundee’s new “modern and spacious” £8 million Sidlaw View Primary School is nearing completion.
Robertson Tayside is delivering the project, which will see up to 400 pupils able to attend the new two-stream primary school.
The project will be part of a campus including Jessie Porter Nursery and the replacement for Baldragon Academy.
Kevin Dickson, regional managing director at Robertson Tayside explained, “The new Sidlaw View Primary School will be a modern and spacious learning environment, with every care taken to ensure it meets the requirements of pupils and staff.
“Delivering the project alongside the new Baldragon Academy building is helping ensure crucial efficiency savings, both during construction and in the long-term operation of the schools. The community can look forward to a shared campus which will enhance the learning experience for pupils at every stage of their education.”
Councillor Stewart Hunter, Dundee City Council’s children and families’ service convenor added, “Continuing investment into our school estate is crucial for the years ahead. We are committed to closing the attainment gap and ensuring that even more of our young people are able to take advantage of new opportunities. The provision of a high quality learning and teaching environment for young people is an important part of these efforts.
“These buildings provide a new focus for the community and are a great source of pride for local people.”
The new Sidlaw View Primary is due to open after the October break.
