BAM is bound for W. Africa

BAM Ritchies, the Kilsyth-based geotechnical specialist, has been awarded a quarry contract in West Africa.
The agreement is for the company, a specialist division of BAM Nuttall, to carry out primary drilling and blasting of between 300,000 and 600,000 tonnes a year from a rock outcrop close to the township of Agbelouve in Togo.
The quarry will be developed with 10-15 metre high benches, with BAM Ritchies providing all face-profiling, surveying, drilling and shotfiring services, as well as explosives and initiation accessories. The contract was awarded by Granutogo S.A. – a Heidelberg Cement company – which will produce aggregates for concrete production for sale to local construction markets, and to support group cement production capabilities.
BAM Ritchies recently completed construction of landslide and debris barriers on the Rest and be Thankful section of the A83 for Transport Scotland.
