THE £88 million Caledonia High School in Rosyth has officially been handed over to Fife Council.

Construction of the new school began in autumn of 2024, with AHR behind the design, BAM Construction leading the build and hub East Central Scotland delivering the project on behalf of the local authority.

Replacing Inverkeithing High School, the local authority said the new facility provides a modern, fit-for-purpose environment with capacity for over 1,700 pupils and flexible teaching spaces, digital learning facilities, and areas for collaboration, alongside outdoor spaces.

The keys were ceremoniously handed over to Fife Council’s education spokesperson, councillor Cara Hilton, by BAM’s Construction director for Scotland, Martin Cooper. Four pupil ambassadors from the school also joined the event, representing their school community and taking part in the official handover alongside Cllr Hilton.

Councillor Cara Hilton said, “We’re delighted to take ownership of this outstanding new school. Caledonia High School represents a significant investment in the future of our young people and the wider community.

“This modern, high-quality learning environment has been designed to support pupils to thrive, and it will serve generations of young people across west Fife.”

Martin Cooper, BAM’s Construction Director for Scotland, added, “It has been a privilege to be part of delivering Caledonia High School. This project is a testament to the hard work and collaboration of everyone involved.

“We are proud to hand over a school that provides inspiring, modern spaces for learning and will have a lasting impact on the local community.”
