A public consultation has been launched in Moray, following planning approval for the Hillside Farm masterplan in Dufftown.
The masterplan sets out a vision for a new neighbourhood featuring opportunities to grow the local economy, create new accessible green space, address the climate emergency, and support the elimination of fuel poverty through the provision of sustainably heated homes.
The project follows a housing needs and demand report undertaken by Dufftown and District Community Association (DDCA), which identified a community need for affordable housing in the area. The Moray Growth Deal’s £7.5 million housing mix delivery project, which is funded by Moray Council and the Scottish Government, has helped to fund the first phase of the project through the delivery of a masterplan for the site.
The public consultation period runs until July 22, with an in-person drop-in event to be held on June 11 at Dufftown Library from 4pm – 7pm.

The current proposals reflect the constructive feedback received through previous consultations, which has been carefully considered and meaningfully incorporated into the evolving design. We look forward to receiving further thoughts on the proposals from the upcoming consultation.”
Councillor Marc Macrae, Moray Council chair of the economic development and infrastructure committee and Moray Growth Deal lead, added, “Securing planning approval for Hillside Farm is a major milestone in our masterplan. Working together with local communities and Dufftown and District Community Association, our vision sets the foundation for new homes and public spaces. We look forward to the consultation to get feedback on our proposals.”
