FIFE Council is set to expand its housing provision in Coaltown of Wemyss through the proposed purchase of 14 new build homes at the new Castle Park development.
Built by Persimmon Homes, the property includes a mix of two and three-bedroom properties – with the acquisition supported by Scottish Government funding.
Councillor Judy Hamilton, Fife Council’s housing spokesperson, said, “This is a positive step in increasing the supply of good-quality homes in communities where they are needed most.
“By working proactively to bring new properties into our housing stock, we can support families, reduce pressure on temporary accommodation, and help more people find a home that meets their needs.”
Councillors on Fife Council’s cabinet committee agreed to progress the deal with Persimmon Homes at a meeting last week. Once complete, the properties are expected to help up to 30 households through the local authority’s transfer-led allocations approach, creating opportunities for people to move into suitable housing and freeing up existing houses for others in need.
