EDINBURGH-based Lochay Homes has announced the appointment of Andy Wyles, former northern regional chair at Bellway, as its new non-executive chair.

Andy joins the business following a 23-year career at Bellway, where he held senior leadership roles and led delivery programmes across Scotland and the north of England.

In his role at Lochay, Andy will support the company’s strategic growth as it expands its portfolio of ‘quality and design-led’ homes across Scotland. His appointment comes as the housing industry – and smaller housebuilders in particular – face growing pressures, including higher front-end costs, planning delays, and longer lead times that can put increased strain on development viability.

Despite these challenges, Andy believes independent housebuilders are well placed to succeed through agility and strong local knowledge.

He said, “One of the biggest strengths Lochay Homes has is its agility. As a smaller, independent, family-run business, Lochay can adapt quickly, respond to local needs and build the kinds of homes people genuinely want and need. There is a real opportunity to continue delivering high-quality, locally-informed developments that reflect the needs of communities across Scotland.”

Jamie Thomson, director of Lochay Homes, added, “Andy’s appointment marks the next major step in Lochay Homes’ journey and our long-term growth plans for Scotland. His industry experience, strategic insight and understanding of the Scottish market make him an invaluable addition to our leadership team.

“As we continue to expand our pipeline of new developments, Andy will help guide the business through its next phase – ensuring we remain ambitious, agile and committed to delivering exceptional homes across the country.”
