Inverclyde set for £4m rail project

Network Rail

NETWORK Rail is set to commence work on a £4 million improvement project to bridges across the Inverclyde railway line.

The upgrades aim to improve the long-term resilience and reliability of the line. The work includes fixing and replacing parts of the walls that support the railway in Greenock, including new concrete sections.

The main deck of the River Gryff Bridge will also be replaced, as well as repair to the steel that supports the railway on Houston Road in Georgetown, and fixing the steel under the bridge and replacing part of the platform at Station Road in Langbank.

Ross Moran, route director at Network Rail Scotland, said, “This work is part of our commitment to maintaining a railway that communities and visitors can continue to rely on. We’ve combined a number of essential projects into one single closure, avoiding the need for multiple periods of disruption over a longer timeframe.

“We’re grateful to passengers and local residents for their patience and understanding while we carry out these improvements.”
