HIGHLAND housebuilder Tulloch Homes has welcomed ten new apprentices to its team.
The local recruits have each started their apprenticeships across painting and decorating, taping, plumbing, and joinery disciplines.
Tulloch, part of the Springfield Group, revealed it is committed to training and developing the next generation of workers. Across the group, 25 apprentices have joined the business this year alone, and 20% of site workers are apprentices.
16-year-old Emily Harkair from Carrbridge is among the new recruits and has joined as an apprentice plumber. She said, “I am a very practical person and wanted a career that would allow me to be hands-on. This apprenticeship with Tulloch is giving me the opportunity to do exactly that while learning from professionals in the plumbing trade – I’m looking forward to getting started at Spey Green in Newtonmore.”
Joinery apprentice Ryan MacDonald is also among the new starts and will be working at The Maples in Inverness. The 18-year-old from Inverness added, “I’m really excited to get started on my apprentice. I researched Tulloch before applying and was impressed with the quality of the homes and the way the company treats their employees. I’ve always wanted to be a joiner and I’m often helping with joinery jobs around the house so I’m looking forward to developing this skill further.”
Kieran Graham, Tulloch Homes MD, commented, “With 100 years of experience in the industry we know how to build a good quality home. We know our customers want high levels of specification and a good range of choice. And we know these things are not achievable without skilled and dedicated employees. That’s why, as a leading employer in the area, it’s vital we invest in the next generation of trades through apprenticeships where they are given opportunities to learn from professional trades alongside their classroom theory.”
