ROBERTSON Construction has commenced work on what Clackmannanshire Council has described as its ‘most ambitious community project’ yet.
The project will deliver the new Wellbeing Hub and Lochies School campus, which the local authority said will redefine how health, wellbeing, education, and community services are delivered in Alloa.
The Passivhaus campus will include swimming pools, fitness suites, a games hall, soft play and a wellbeing park, alongside modern classrooms and specialist facilities for pupils.
Community spaces, a café, outside areas, flexible rooms for social prescribing, learning and cultural activities will further strengthen the hub’s role in promoting health and wellbeing and community life.
The project is being managed by hub East Scotland, on behalf of Clackmannanshire Council, with Robertson Construction as the main contractor in collaboration with JM Architects, Rankin Fraser, Blyth & Blyth, Baker Hicks, ECD Architects, and Thomas & Adamson.
Councillor Graham Lindsay, spokesperson for people at Clackmannanshire Council, said, “It’s so pleasing, and in many ways, quite emotional to see the full construction phase well underway. This project is our biggest infrastructure investment in over 40 years and is a direct investment in the health and wellbeing of our residents.
“These extremely high-quality, and high energy efficiency facilities will serve the whole community, giving people a place to learn, be active and connect socially. The Wellbeing Hub and Lochies School will significantly improve lives for generations to come, and I look forward to watching this exciting development progress over the coming months.”
Brian Craig, chief executive, hub East Central Scotland, added, “We have worked closely with Clackmannanshire Council throughout the development of this project and look forward to delivering a high quality community campus that will enrich the lives of local people.”
Elliot Robertson, CEO at Robertson Group, commented, “This is an important stage for a development that will bring modern, high-quality facilities for health, learning and community life together in one place. By utilising Passivhaus Standards in the design and build the Council is further demonstrating its commitment to achieving net zero, to create a welcoming environment that supports wellbeing and long-term sustainability.
“Our team has a wealth of experience in innovative, low-energy construction, and will be supported by a locally engaged supply chain. Working with a local supply chain brings additional economic and community benefits and we look forward to continuing to work closely with the local community, as we build a campus that will continue to play an important role in Clackmannanshire long after our works are completed.”
