THE Chartered Institute of Building (CIOB), in collaboration with the National Federation of Roofing Contractors (NFRC), has launched a new roofing chartered membership programme (CMP) that offers a dedicated route for experienced roofing professionals to achieve chartered status (MCIOB).

The programme is designed for individuals with at least five years’ experience in roofing who manage people, processes, or projects, offering the opportunity to gain professional accreditation.

As part of CIOB’s range of sector-specific chartered membership programmes, the roofing CMP aligns with the Institute’s commitment to raising standards and promoting professionalism across the built environment. Under the banner ‘Pathway to Professionalism’, the course supports participants in achieving MCIOB status, which demonstrates competence, integrity, and education to a high standard.

Chartered membership of CIOB provides professionals with access to a global network of industry experts, continuous professional development opportunities, and enhanced career prospects.

The CMP has combined CIOB’s expertise in professional education with NFRC’s understanding of the roofing industry.

Adrian Montague, director of CIOB Academy, said, “We are delighted to be working with NFRC to open up this new pathway for roofing professionals. The roofing CMP reflects CIOB’s mission to support all areas of the built environment in achieving excellence and professionalism. Through this initiative, experienced roofing specialists can now gain chartered recognition for the vital role they play in delivering quality and safety across the sector.”

James Talman, CEO of NFRC, added, “This collaboration with CIOB gives our members a unique opportunity to gain Chartered status through a programme designed specifically for their expertise. It’s a significant step forward in recognising roofing as a professional discipline in its own right.”
