CITY Gate Construction (CGC) has announced the formation of a new operational board and three senior promotions.
The move comes as part of the Renfrewshire-based firm’s continued growth strategy, with Matthew Bowater, Kevin Kozicki, and Stuart McLachlan all stepping into director roles.
The operational board will provide oversight and guidance to the company by monitoring the performance of the business and will use a range of key metrics to optimise processes, maximise quality and performance, both operationally and commercially, whilst remaining customer focussed and managing business risks.
Matthew Bowater is promoted to people director, Kevin Kozicki to construction director, and Stuart MacLachlan to finance director. CGC said that all three promotions reflect its commitment to nurturing talent and investing in leadership that supports its continued growth.
Matthew joined CGC in 2018 and his promotion to the operational board is described as ‘well-earned’. Commercial director David Palmer said, “Since joining the business, originally as an external consultant, Matthew has shown professionalism and business acumen beyond his years. He has fulfilled this huge potential and demonstrated his commitment to his own personal growth alongside the growth of the business.
“He has played a key role in talent acquisition, fostering company culture and compliance throughout the business. I’m excited to work closely with him in his new role as people director as we continue to invest in our employees and build a best-in-class workplace environment.”
Kevin Kozicki joined CGC as operations manager in 2022 and has played a key role in the business’ growth since then, developing client relationships and optimising framework opportunities. Operations director Neil Whyte said, “Kevin brings a wealth of experience in the construction industry and a proven track record of successfully managing large contracts, and nurturing key client relationships. His knowledge and leadership skills are a tremendous asset to the whole company, and he has already delivered exceptional results, which have aligned perfectly with the company’s vision.
“In his new role as construction director, he will continue to develop and assist the team around him as we expand into new markets, and I am looking forward to seeing what he and the other members of the board can achieve in the years ahead.”
Newly appointed finance director Stuart MacLachlan joined the CGC team in 2024, and has been instrumental in providing financial support through some key milestones in the business growth strategy. David Palmer said, “I am delighted to welcome Stuart onto the operational board as finance drector, a promotion that has been well-earned. In his short time with the company, Stuart has become an important part of the leadership team.
“His financial expertise, professionalism and proven track record in financial planning and reporting will be invaluable to the business as we continue to drive sustainable growth. I look forward to working closer with Stuart to strengthen financial performance, optimise business processes, and fulfilling the company’s strategic goals.”
