CCG has commenced work on the build of 100 new homes in Coatbridge on behalf of North Lanarkshire Council.
The £23.7 million development at Dunottar Avenue, Shawhead, comprises 76 houses and cottage flats – which are a mix of two, three, and four-bedrooms – as well as 24 flats in a mix of one and two-bedrooms.
All properties will be serviced by air source heat pump heating technology and the blocks of flats will be serviced by exhaust air technology. The development is also set to benefit from a multi-utility games arena and play park.
A sod-cutting ceremony was held at the project site, with North Lanarkshire Council housing convener, councillor Michael McPake, cutting the first sod. He said, “As part of our reprovisioning plans, to transform towns and communities, low rise flats on this site were demolished to be replaced by modern, energy efficient homes. We are continuing to make significant progress delivering our new supply homes with 1,629 already delivered and a further 193 on site. And it’s not just new housing we’re building. We’re creating job opportunities, boosting the local economy and delivering a range of community benefits.
“These homes will change the face of our local communities, providing sustainable housing for our tenants now and for generations to come – all part of our ambition to make North Lanarkshire the place to live.”
CCG MD David Wylie added, “With construction activities now underway in Shawhead, CCG is set to deliver 230 affordable homes across two developments in Coatbridge by mid-2027. That is a significant number that will go a long way to supporting the needs of families in the town and stands a testament to the strength of our partnership with North Lanarkshire Council.
“Through the adoption of sustainable building methods and low carbon technologies, as well as job creation, apprenticeships, and engagement with schools, the economic, social, and environmental impact of the development will be felt across the community for many years to come. We express our sincere thanks to the council for their continued trust and support and look forward to progressing works in the weeks and months ahead.”
