MAC Mic Group has contributed £3,000 towards playground upgrades at Carolside Primary School in East Renfrewshire.
Donated through the firm’s charitable arm, the Mac Mic Foundation, the move follows a community fundraising appeal led by the school’s Parent Council (PTA) and supported by families, local organisations, and the wider community.
The cash will be used to help transform the space into a safer, more inclusive and engaging environment.
The playground, which is used not only by pupils but also by families and community members, was said to have been in ‘urgent need of repair and improvement’. The funding has helped deliver new play structures, upgraded safety features, and inclusive design improvements.
Andrew Mickel, director at Mac Mic Group, visited the school to see the finished playground in action — and test out the new equipment for himself!
“It was brilliant to see the children enjoying the new equipment — their smiles said it all,” he said. “This project is a great example of what can be achieved when a community comes together. We’re proud to support initiatives like this that make a real, lasting difference for families in East Renfrewshire.”
Kaitlyn Dynes of the Carolside Primary Parent Council added, “We’re excited to share the first step in our playground update! Thanks to a generous donation from the Mac Mic Foundation, along with fantastic fundraising efforts from our parents and pupils, we’ve been able to replace our much-loved but worn-out active trail — and install brand-new swing bars too! The children are absolutely thrilled, and it’s wonderful to see the new equipment being enjoyed both during and after school hours. A huge thank you to the Mac Mic Foundation from everyone at Carolside PTA and all our pupils!”
