‘Truly unique’ residential development opportunity arises in Morningside

Hermitage Apartments

SAVILLS is marketing a ‘truly unique’ residential development opportunity within a former church in the heart of Morningside, Edinburgh.

The sale offers the chance to develop ten apartments within a historic and prime location.

Situated within the former Cluny Centre, the proposed Hermitage Apartments will combine modern residential living with the architectural history of the A-listed building, designed in 1890 by Sir Robert Rowand Anderson.

The site has detailed planning permission for the conversion of the building to create 10 residential apartments.

Originally South Morningside Church, the building was designed in red sandstone in the gothic style. Its interior spans approximately 14,947 square feet over two floors and includes a two-storey tower.

Ben Brough, head of residential development, Savills Scotland, said, “The Hermitage Apartments represent an exceptional and rare opportunity to create a flagship residential development in one of Edinburgh’s most desirable locations. Its combination of historic significance, architectural beauty, and prime setting in Morningside provides an unparalleled canvas for developers to craft something truly special. We are excited to bring this iconic site to market.”
