MUIR Homes has appointed Robert Herd as the firm’s new MD.
Having originally joined the housebuilder as a site manager, he rose through the ranks to become construction manager before briefly stepping away. Now, he returns to lead the company at a time of growth and investment.
The appointment is part of a wider expansion at Muir Homes, which has seen a series of promotions and new hires. The firm said demand remains strong, with developments in Peterhead sold out and only a limited number of homes remaining at Deeside, Laurencekirk, Stanley, and Glenboig. Muir is also preparing to launch new sites across Scotland’s central belt and Fife, including a flagship project in Dalgety Bay in the coming months.
Robert Herd said, “Having started my career with Muir Homes many years ago, I am incredibly proud to return as managing director. Muir is a shining example of a long-standing, successful family business, with John Muir still at the helm of the wider group. The company continues to deliver high-quality homes, support local jobs, and contribute to economic growth across Scotland.
“With a strong pipeline of developments spanning the Central Belt and Fife, we are committed to delivering exceptional homes while playing our part in addressing Scotland’s housing shortage.”
Martin Smith, chief executive of Muir Group, added, “Robert has an impressive track record in housebuilding, and we are delighted to welcome him back as managing director of Muir Homes. His leadership will be instrumental in driving the company forward during this exciting period of expansion.”
