PAISLEY-based Clark Contracts has completed a third project within the OVO Hydro in Glasgow, which has allowed the formation of the new Sky VIP lounge.
The contractor completed the construction of the base build for the lounge, spanning around a third of the perimeter of the Hydro bowl. Clark explained the project entailed ‘complex’ fire compartmentation works to deliver an ‘iconic’ addition to Scotland’s home of live entertainment.
Clark Contracts has previously formed the Clubhouse bar and balcony, and one of the venue’s Super Suites.
Director Gerry Cummins said, “We are delighted to have completed a 3rd project within this iconic venue. The new Sky lounge provides a modern and luxurious space for Sky customers. This project has been a true partnership with SEC and the consultant team of Holmes Miller, Arup and Gardiner and Theobald. We look forward to collaborating with the team on future projects within the venue.”
The new lounge features a dedicated entrance and customer check-in, as well as a private area to relax away from the crowds. Sky customers who already have a ticket to a show at OVO Hydro can sign up on the MySky app to visit the lounge on a first-come, first-served basis.
Ross Easton, head of commercial at Scottish Event Campus, added, “The Sky VIP lounge construction has been a highly complex and technically demanding project due to its location within the arena bowl and the need to schedule works around our packed event calendar. Clark Contracts have once again proven to be an exceptional partner, collaborating seamlessly with our project team and Sky to bring this ambitious vision to life. The result is a premium, state-of-the-art lounge that elevates the guest experience at OVO Hydro.”
