Window replacement work underway at B-listed Glasgow residences

CCG window replacement contract with Yorkhill Housing Association

CCG has started work on a window replacement project for 42 homes in Glasgow’s west end.

The Argyle Street contract, for Yorkhill Housing Association, will see 351 sash and casement timber windows from Blairs installed over a 10-week programme.

Timber windows have been specified to correspond with local planning requirements associated with the residence’s B-listed status. CCG explained the products will be double-glazed and installed with draft proofing around the frame to help improve energy performance, while the addition of loft insulation will further mitigate heat loss.

Tony Mallaghan, CEO of Yorkhill Housing Association, said, “We are delighted with the new windows that are being installed for our residents. It has been a challenge to find window designs that would be in keeping with the B-listed status of the terrace while giving the energy performance needed to help people have warm homes as well as sound proofing that double glazing provides.

“These, along with the other energy efficiency measures such as the Association having a joiner carrying out internal draft proofing, will make a significant difference to the comfort of our residents and the work is being carried out to the same high standards that CCG delivered in our previous contract at Overnewton Court.”

Jim Cunningham, CCG Asset Management manager, added, “After having completed a large-scale window replacement contract in 2024, we are delighted to offer our support once again to Yorkhill HA. Working in occupied homes can be challenging however, our expert tradespeople, augmented by our tenant liaison team, will operate diligently and efficiently to ensure the windows are installed to the highest quality standard with minimal intrusion on the day-to-day lives of tenants.”

Procured via the Scottish Procurement Alliance, the contract is set for full completion in the spring.
