THOMAS Johnstone Ltd (TJL) has been appointed main contractor for a multi-million-pound refurbishment project at Crieff Hydro Hotel in Perthshire.
The Inchinnan-based fit-out contractor has a long history of working in live hotel environments and heritage buildings. The project will create a new day-to-night bar, refurbished dining areas, and a speakeasy bar with a new look and feel for hotel guests and visitors to enjoy.
The hotel will remain open throughout the project. The initiative is the vision of brothers Richard and Charlie Leckie, the sixth generation of the Leckie family at Crieff Hydro. Work will start in January, and the new areas will be unveiled in the spring.
Campbell Ross, regional construction director, Thomas Johnstone, said, “We are delighted to bring our reputation for delivering excellence to this project at Crieff Hydro. Sharing a heritage with Crieff Hydro, also established in 1868, makes this collaboration feel especially meaningful as we work with the wider design team to create these new spaces to elevate the hotel’s guest experience.”
Charlie Leckie, associate director, Crieff Hydro, added, “The nature of this project in an open hotel means it needs to be carried out as quickly as possible with little disruption to our guests. We have a longstanding team of outstanding professionals who have brought particular expertise to the project and are pleased to have found a suitably experienced and enthusiastic lead contractor in Thomas Johnstone Ltd who started out in business in the same year as Crieff Hydro – 1868.”
