CALA Homes (West) has submitted a planning application to Renfrewshire Council for a new 105-property residential development at Burnfoot Road in Lochwinnoch.

The application outlines plans to deliver 79 private and 26 affordable homes, comprising a mix of three-bedroom terraced and semi-detached homes, and four-and-five-bedroom detached properties.

Cala revealed it has designed the development to feature ‘generous’ green space and includes a play area, village green and active travel routes connecting to the wider community.

The site is allocated for housing within the Renfrewshire Local Development Plan 2021. Cala Homes (West) submitted a Proposal of Application Notice to Renfrewshire Council and undertook a community consultation process earlier this year, with feedback used to help shape final proposals.

Gillian Hessett, land manager at Cala Homes (West), said, “We were pleased to welcome almost 200 people to recent consultation events where we captured a great breadth of feedback from the local community. This has been reflected in our final proposal which will complement the existing community of Lochwinnoch with both private and affordable homes.

“By incorporating plentiful green space, including a village green and play park, we have arrived at a masterplan with community at its heart, creating a place where people are proud to call home. The urgent need for new homes in Scotland is by no means a new conversation, and we are confident that Renfrewshire Council will share our vision to create a sustainably led development to help bridge the gap between the supply and demand for new homes.”

The application is expected to be determined in summer 2025, and should Cala receive the green light, groundworks will commence later that year.
