GLASGOW-based renewable energy consultancy Renew-Able is planning for significant growth after a series of new business wins – including a seven-figure contract in the Caribbean.
The firm aims to double its team over the next three years as part of plans to support an additional 500 businesses by 2030 on reaching net zero targets.
Renew-Able installs solar panels, heat pumps and other energy solutions for hotels, golf courses and other key sectors.
MD Emanuel Howell, who was born in Jamaica, remains an energy advisor in the region and recently secured a seven-figure contract for a Barbados-based government agency. This will include the consultancy and design of solar panel PV systems.
Emanuel said, “It’s an exciting time for Renew-Able, and we’re looking to grow the company further after a series of new business wins. Renew-Able is all geared towards tailoring an energy solution that best suits your business and finding the right result for our customers.
“We initially focused on growing the business throughout Scotland, which we’ve achieved over the last four years. We’ve now secured more work across the UK in recent months, so it’s been a hugely positive time for the company. Securing such a significant contract in the Caribbean has been another really big moment for the company as well, and hopefully reflects how ambitious we are. We want to keep building on the recent success in the months and years ahead.”
Emanuel, who first began working in the wider renewables sector in 2005, set up Renew-Able in 2020 after becoming frustrated at the lack of a ‘one-stop-shop’ for companies looking to find the most appropriate energy solution, whilst also reduce their energy bills.
The company works with commercial clients across Scotland and the UK, and has a core team of 12 employees, as well as a larger group of subcontractors they employ for larger projects.
Recent business wins include work to install new heating solutions at a luxury hotel in Scotland, as well as several golf courses. The firm is also carrying out work at another upmarket hotel chain’s properties in England.
The work in the Caribbean will be project managed by the Renew-Able team with a team of sub-contractors carrying out the work.
The company also run Energy How, which provides a similar consultancy and installation service for homeowners across central Scotland.
Emanuel added, “We see ourselves as a solution provider, rather than having a focus on installing one particular product. Although a lot of the work we’re doing just now is around solar and heating, there are various different elements we can support with. If for example a company wanted to install solar panels, but it was clear that installing them wouldn’t be the right solution for them, then we wouldn’t encourage that.
“For most businesses, energy is one of their top three expenses, so there’s a need to get that right. We want to support companies to become more sustainable, given the importance of reaching net zero, whilst also helping them reduce outgoings where possible.”
Renew-Able will next year host a conference at the SEC in Glasgow on how to make your business more sustainable.
