CLARK Contracts recently held the firm’s 12th annual Spring Classic at Loch Katrine, which raised over £1,500 for nominated charity Scottish Action for Mental Health (SAMH).
The event, which involved a 30-mile cycle around the banks of Loch Katrine, was attended by over 40 cyclists from the construction industry.
The sun was shining on the day, making for an enjoyable cycle which started at Trossachs Pier. The cyclists competed for prizes for the fastest Hill Climb, Time Trial, Overall Men’s Winner, Overall Women’s Winner, and Overall Team Performance.
The Dukes Pass marked the start of the hill climb where the cyclist tackled a Cat 3 hill climb stretching over three miles, with the winner being awarded the ‘King of the Mountains’ jersey.
Ewan Hooper of Ossian Architects was first to the top with a time of 10 minutes and 59 seconds, followed by John Bethune from Woolgar Hunter at 12 minutes and 12 seconds.
After a quick rest, the riders made their way through Aberfoyle and to the start of the three-mile time trial competition, which started at Loch Chon. All riders completed this section in under 15 minutes, with Ewan winning the title by 46 seconds.
It was then time for a quick pit stop at Stronachlacher for tea, coffee, and cake before a prizegiving ceremony.
Following his impressive performance in both competitions, Ewan Hooper was crowned the Overall Men’s Winner. The prize from the Hill Climb was presented to runner up John Bethune, and the Time Trial prize presented to third place, Chris Shields from TCS Construction Consultants.
Christina Gaiger of Architype was presented the Maglia Rosa jersey for the best overall women’s performance.
Next up was the team prize, with teams entered by Architype , BDP, BTO Solicitors, Stallan-Brand, and Woolgar Hunter. The Woolgar Hunter team came out on top.
Following a short rest, the cyclists made their way back to Trossachs Pier round the north of Loch Katrine before everyone headed home.
