CAPSTONE Construction has completed groundworks at a new residential development in the Slackbuie area of Inverness.
The Slackbuie View development is being led by the Highland Housing Alliance (HHA) and will comprise 24 new homes – including 18 two-bedroom cottage flats, four three-bedroom semi-detached homes, and two four-bedroom semi-detached houses.
The site is a natural extension of the existing Slackbuie community. As part its developer contribution, HHA has provided more than £180,000 that will benefit local primary and secondary schools, and community facilities.
The wider project team includes Helica Project Management; engineering firm, Fairhurst; and quantity surveyor, WSD Scotland, with architectural services completed by Bracewell Stirling Architects.
Funding for the development has been supported by the Scottish Government, the Highland Council, and the Inverness and Highland City Region Deal. Inverness-based Capstone Construction is on track to complete construction of the homes in early 2025, with the first residents expected to move in during 2025.
Gail Matheson, chief executive at HHA, said, “We’re really pleased to see HHA homes start to get out of the ground in Slackbuie which will provide the area with high-quality rental opportunities. The variety of homes available will be attractive to a range of demographics, including young professionals and growing families in the community. We have a fantastic project team that is working on schedule to complete the development, including Capstone Construction who we have built a fantastic relationship with after successfully delivering other new developments together.”
Rhona Donnelly, MD at Capstone Construction, added, “HHA is a trusted delivery partner with an ambitious and commendable vision to improve the housing market across the Highlands. The 24 new homes in Slackbuie will be a welcome addition to the neighbourhood, offering closeproximity to a range of local amenities and community services, as well as Inverness city centre just a short distance away.
“Completion of the groundworks marks a significant milestone in our construction timeline and we’re looking forward to seeing the homes take shape.”
