MORE than 140 people interested in construction traineeships or apprenticeships attended Clark Contracts’ 8th annual careers evening at the firm’s Paisley HQ.
The event was held during Scottish Apprenticeship Week and provided the opportunity for people to meet the company’s recruitment team and current employees to find out more about potential careers at Clark Contracts and within the industry.
The contractor’s recruitment and HR manager delivered presentations on the company’s academy and apprenticeship opportunities, demonstrating examples of staff members who started out as apprentices and have progressed into management roles.
Attendees had the opportunity to meet with site managers, quantity surveyors, contracts managers, estimators and apprentices who have progressed through the academy. Skills Development Scotland, Invest in Renfrewshire and modern apprenticeship provider, Microcom were also in attendance to provide advice and support.
Gordon Cunningham, MD of Clark Contracts, said, “We are delighted that so many skilled, talented and enthusiastic people, joined us for our 8th annual careers evening. We are working hard to close the skills gap in the construction industry, having recruited over 200 trainees and apprentices in to the business over the last 10 years, and are looking forward to welcoming this year’s recruits into our academy.”
Clark Contracts currently has over 36 trainees and apprentices within its academy in a wide range of roles. The contractor annually invests £750,000 into training and is dedicated to the continued development of employees.
The business will be holding a further careers evening in Edinburgh on March 27, with further details due to be shared on the firm’s website and social media this week. The contractor’s annual trainee and apprenticeship recruitment will then be launched in April.
