Site purchase progresses Cala plans for fourth phase at Grandhome

CALA Homes (North) has completed the site purchase for a fourth phase at the ongoing Grandhome development in Bridge of Don, after receiving planning approval from Aberdeen City Council earlier this year.

The housebuilder’s current phases at the site, Green Park at Grandhome and Mains of Grandhome, comprise two, three and four, and five-bedroom properties, including a mix of detached, semi-detached and terraced house types.

This new phase will feature 76 three, four and five-bedroom properties, continuing the Grandhome Trust’s overall masterplan for the area which includes 7,000 homes and commercial space.

Homes will be built in line with Cala’s Sustainability Strategy, which aims to achieve net zero operational greenhouse gas emissions across the business by 2030, including ensuring that all new homes are operationally net zero enabled.

Lauded as Cala’s most sustainable development in the north east so far, Grandhome will see a number of sustainability measures put in place, including moving to gas-free homes, installing EV charging points at each property, rolling out an Urban Wildlife Strategy and tackling site-based operational emissions.

Ross Maclennan, land director at Cala Homes (North), said, “We are pleased to have been able to take steps forward in the fourth phase at our popular Grandhome development, showcasing the continued desire for new homes in this sought after location in the north east. It’s an exciting opportunity to develop this vibrant community further, working in partnership with the Grandhome Trust, including a plan for our first site in Aberdeen that boasts full EV charging points at every home and sustainable heating technology which replaces gas boilers in each home.

“At Cala, we’re also always on the lookout for exciting land opportunities to transform new sites into our exacting standards of high-quality homes. By proactively purchasing land in the north east, we can continue to deliver thriving, sustainable new communities that highlight the very best in living that Aberdeen and Aberdeenshire can offer.”
