Green light for Garrion Tower transformation plans

BLOCK Architects has announced that both listed building consent and full planning permission approvals have been granted for the restoration, refurbishment and extension of the B-listed Garrion Tower in Wishaw.

The business revealed the ‘at-risk’ building will be brought back to life as a luxurious wedding venue, with a boutique luxury hotel and restaurant forming part of the plans.

The proposals also include a champagne bar overlooking the Clyde, with access to a green rooftop terrace as well as an ‘intimate’ wedding hall located deep within the tower and private pavilion within the grounds.

Project Scotland reported last year that the proposals include for the complete renovation and refurbishment of the existing tower, which is currently derelict and has been left in a state of disrepair through excessive vandalism and weathering. The pavilion that once existed on site has been destroyed and the grounds are overgrown.
