MODULAR construction and affordable housing specialist Connect Modular has announced it has been named as a contractor on Hub South East’s Tier 1B supply chain.
The Tier 1B supply chain is designed to augment Hub’s existing supply chain with a primary focus on domestic scale construction of care homes and affordable housing.
Connect Modular is the only offsite construction firm to be listed on the supply chain, and the Ayrshire-based manufacturer revealed it is excited by the opportunity this brings for new projects across the Lothians, Scottish Borders and Edinburgh.
Richard Reid, acting CEO of Connect Modular, explained, “We are delighted to form this partnership with Hub South East. As the development partner of choice for public sector projects in Edinburgh, the Lothians and Borders, Hub’s geographical scope is extensive. This appointment increases our scope to demonstrate the efficiency of our modular construction method and how it can support the delivery of high quality, affordable houses.”
Connect Modular houses are constructed in modules inside its manufacturing facility in Cumnock, East Ayrshire where they are fitted out with kitchens, bathrooms, plumbing and electrics before being delivered to site.
Once on site, the modules are craned into position and made wind and watertight on the same day. The homes can be ready for occupancy in a matter of weeks, with only the final 10% of external works left to be completed.
Greig Jamieson, Hub South East’s commercial director, stated, “Providing innovative solutions for clients is a key driver for Hub South East and we are delighted to welcome Connect Modular onto our supply chain as we embrace new opportunities through off site manufacturing. As well as having a proven track record in the field of modular construction, they demonstrate a commitment to our shared values and partnership ethos.
“Relationships with our supply chain members are fundamental to Hub South East’s continued success and I am confident that Connect Modular will be an excellent addition to our already strong offering. We look forward to working with the team on future projects.”
