Clark Contracts donates over 200 books to Action for Children

ACTION for Children has said it is ‘hugely appreciative’ of the support from Clark Contracts after the Paisley contractor donated over 200 books to the charity.

A variety of new books were donated from employees in December to help bring some joy to vulnerable children, with the donations split between the charity’s services in the east and west of Scotland.

Donations in the west were distributed to Glasgow Schools Counselling and Blues, a mental health and wellbeing service based in the 30 high schools in Glasgow in which Action for Children provide one-to-one counselling and group work sessions. Using an early intervention model, Action for Children is able to directly impact the mental health of young people.

Across the east of Scotland, the books were donated to the young people in Action for Children’s residential services and those who attend for outreach and short breaks.

Caroline O’Grady, counselling practice manager for Glasgow Schools Counselling and Blues Service at Action for Children, said, “We are hugely appreciative for this support from Clark Contracts through their book donation in December. For the services and young people who received gifts because of their generosity, it was great to offer their festive time an extra gift and support.

“We know Christmas time was once again a challenging and anxious time for many families, so it was brilliant to see some extra joy being brought through working alongside our likeminded partners.”

Gordon Cunningham, MD of Clark Contracts, added, “Our employees continually support our commitment to making a difference to those in need through our monthly foodbank donations, volunteering, and fundraising events. We are delighted to have supported Action for Children’s Christmas Appeal and hope that the children across Scotland enjoy their new books.”
