CONSTRUCTION industry stalwart Ed Monaghan has been appointed as a non-executive director at Glasgow-based communications consultancy Perceptive Communicators.
The award-winning consultancy for the built environment in Scotland has a wide range of clients including Clyde Gateway, Cruden Group, hub South West, Lost Shore Surf Resort and Homes for Scotland.
Ed Monaghan spent 40 years with Mactaggart & Mickel Group, progressing from apprentice to chief executive, a role he held for 15 years. He was recognised as Director of the Year by the Institute of Directors and led the team which won Family Business of the Year at The Herald Family Business Awards. He has also been recognised as a Fellow of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS) for over a decade.
Ed was also a director of City Legacy which delivered the transformational Athletes’ Village for the Commonwealth Games in Glasgow’s east end. Supported by Perceptive on communications from inception to sales, the Athletes’ Village won 25 awards, including the Queen’s Award for Enterprise.
A champion of sustainability in construction, Ed led the development and implementation of the district heating systems for the Athletes’ Village and more recently at Shawfair near Edinburgh. He was the inaugural chair of Construction Scotland for three years and chaired the Construction Industry Training Board Scotland (CITB) for ten years.
With non-executive director roles at LAR Projects, Nova Homes and Rosemount Lifelong Learning, Ed is also governor at The Royal Conservatoire of Scotland.
