Scripture Union Scotland chooses revamped Bridgeton site as Scottish HQ

JUST weeks after refurbishment works completed at Clyde Gateway’s New Olympia House in Bridgeton, it has been announced that Scripture Union (SU) Scotland has leased the entire building, which will be its new Scottish HQ.

Designed by local architectural practice O’DonnellBrown, the ex-Salvation Army Citadel has been refurbished to provide self-contained, contemporary office space extending to 3,000 sq ft over two floors. The design includes a large sculptural metal tower called the Beacon, a nod to the adjacent Bridgeton Umbrella.

New Olympia House will provide SU Scotland with flexible accommodation and space for offices, meetings and local events. An option for SU Scotland to purchase the building has also been agreed.

Robin MacLellan, CEO of Scripture Union Scotland, said, “We are delighted to become the newest tenant of Bridgeton’s historic and increasingly thriving civic community. This beautifully refurbished building is ideally positioned with strong transport links and we hope our presence can add real value to the life of the local community in Bridgeton as well as providing a high quality base for our work with children and families across Scotland.”

Martin McKay, chief executive of Clyde Gateway, added, “This is an exciting letting of a well-known building which has been carefully restored to secure its future and to play its part within Bridgeton’s Civic Hub. There is a real buzz in the area at the moment and the timing of this new and important letting comes as the refurbishment of the famous Bridgeton Umbrella nears completion.”
