Barratt hosts gardening session for Aberdeen pupils

ABERDEEN primary school pupils have been learning gardening skills during a plant-potting session hosted by Barratt Developments Scotland.

The housebuilder teamed up with landscaping company Life Landscaping to host an educational session for primary five pupils from Charleston School, at its nearby new homes development, Charleston Green in Cove.

Youngsters took part in a plant-potting class, hosted by BDW, where they learned about plant care and sustainable garden enhancements and installations that benefit wildlife. Afterwards the pupils got to explore the showhome garden, wildlife pond, bee and butterfly-friendly flower patches, and help re-fill the bird feeders.

The class was also given seeds from the RSPB to take back to school, and each pupil got to take their potted plant home to care for. The housebuilder also gifted the school four new flower planters which have been installed in the playground.

David Palmer, MD of Barratt and David Wilson North Scotland at Barratt Developments, said, “At Barratt Developments, we’re committed to giving back to the communities we build in. Charleston School is a stone’s throw away from our latest development in Cove, Charleston Green. We were delighted to welcome the class of primary five for an educational gardening session at one of our show homes – it’s so important for young people to spend time outdoors, learning about the environment and being kind to nature, so I’m pleased that the session was a success.”
