Aberdeen children help influence new proposals for city’s beach

PLANS have been launched to create new areas at Aberdeen beach which the city’s council has said would be attractions in their own right.

The applications, for a beach park and events park, are earmarked for the Queen’s Links either side of the Beach Boulevard which are currently maintained grassy areas and follow ‘extensive’ consultation with children and young people in Aberdeen.

If approved, the first phase of works would upgrade the green spaces to attract visitors to the area while providing a higher quality environment and broadening the range of activities which can be enjoyed at the beach.

Plans for the beach park area, at the south end of the site, would focus on a variety of landscaped play and sports areas with built structures including a gateway building, a hub building, two canopies, and a play structure called The Rope Factory.

A proposed car park and junction would also come and be located at Links Road, with it providing dedicated blue badge parking spaces on the beach park area.
