PICK Everard has appointed an experienced director of structural engineering in Scotland in a bid to accelerate its regional growth opportunities and service capabilities nationwide.
Andy Gotts joins the firm with more than 25 years of experience in consultancy-based roles, including a decade of operating at director level. Spanning new build to redevelopment projects, Andy’s career has consisted of work with clients across all sectors including custodial, energy, public health, and education.
As chair of the Institution of Structural Engineers (IStructE) in Scotland, Pick Everard said Andy will be looking to utilise his contacts and knowledge of the civil and structural engineering sectors, helping support day-to-day operations while developing effective business strategy,
Andy commented, “This is an opportunity to join an established consultancy not just in Scotland, but UK-wide. It’s a market I’m highly familiar with, as Pick Everard are well positioned within higher education, healthcare, and development sectors. It also provides a fresh challenge, that will see me help scale and grow the fantastic team already in place across our three Scottish offices.
“I’ve always had a passion about delivering a professional service while undertaking projects that make a real and tangible difference to people’s lives. As engineers, we want to provide buildings and infrastructure that everyone is proud of, and to this end I’m looking forward to supporting our project teams, delivering social value that is born from early engagement and a commitment to stakeholder collaboration.”
As well as playing a vital part in recruitment, Andy’s new role will see him undertake a wide range of responsibilities, including adherence to quality within design reviews, supporting project concepts and SER certifications, while developing Pick Everard’s engineering and technical teams.
He will work closely with existing director of civil and structural engineering, Craig Kempsell. Speaking about the weight of experience Andy brings to the company and his new role, Craig said, “Andy has enjoyed a long and varied career, and having worked with him in the past, I know he will be a fantastic addition to the Pick Everard team. The Scottish construction market is burgeoning with opportunity, and whilst we are beginning to emerge as a leading civil and structural engineering consultant within the Scottish market, the appointment of Andy helps us to be more outward facing, showcasing the depth of credibility and experience we have in Scotland to tackle all manner of projects within the built environment.
“I am very pleased to team up with Andy again and I am looking forward to him getting stuck in, helping Pick Everard deliver better together. We are open for business and ready to showcase our abilities and realise our potential.”
