Pre-construction and enabling works to start for Dunfermline development

TAYLOR Wimpey East Scotland is set to begin a programme of pre-construction ground remediation works as part of the delivery of the new Whitefields neighbourhood in Dunfermline.

Work will take place in the vicinity of the former Wester Whitefield Farm, off Whitefield Road. This marks the next step in preparations for the master planned development in north Dunfermline. It follows the completion of enabling work off Whitefield Road which included the demolition of the Wester Whitefield farm buildings.

As Whitefields Dunfermline progresses, Taylor Wimpey said there will be a ‘substantial’ range of benefits to the local community. These include the creation of around 1,400 new properties; a new primary school; provision for shops and community facilities; new cycleways and pedestrian footpaths; and transport infrastructure improvements to Kingseat Road (West) and Whitefield Road (B912).

There will also be the incorporation of the new Northern Link Road into the development including pedestrian crossings to provide a safe route to schools; meadow grasslands to provide homeowners with access to greenspaces; a play area and outdoor meeting space in Phase One of the development; and measures to enhance the area for local wildlife and improve biodiversity.

Pauline Mills, land and planning director at Taylor Wimpey East Scotland, said, “We are very pleased to be continuing to make good progress in the significant preparations required to create our new neighbourhood Whitefields. Our programme of infrastructure and enabling works will take a number of months to complete and allow us to start our preparations to build our first new homes at Whitefields later this year.

“With the delivery of around 1,400 new homes, the creation of major new infrastructure and improvements to existing transport links, as well as the provision of substantial community benefits, Whitefields will be a brand-new community and place to call home in north Dunfermline. This development will have its roots firmly in North Dunfermline while supporting the existing local communities of Kingseat and Halbeath as its new community develops and grows.”
