ROCKET Heritage & Archaeology has appointed Dr Peter Klemen as principal archaeology consultant for Scotland.
Dr Klemen will be based at the group’s newly opened Dundee office and brings with him over 20 years’ experience, having worked on projects including the East Moat Hill Community Excavation in Cupar, Fife; surveys for the Kilmartin Rock Art Project; and geophysical surveys and excavations in Europe and the Middle East.
Rocket Heritage & Archaeology is part of the multidisciplinary organisation, Rocket Group Ltd, which offers a range of consultancy services covering heritage appraisals and archaeological excavations to the conversion of historic buildings, and the design and construction of new buildings.
Dr Greg Bremner, regional director, Scotland for Rocket Group Ltd, said, “This is an exciting period of growth for our Scottish team and we’re actively seeking staff across further disciplines. Bringing Dr Klemen on board has significantly bolstered our offering in Scotland. His experience of excavation, monitoring, building recording and evaluation puts Rocket in an even stronger position to support our clients.”
Dr Klemen added, “I’m excited to join Rocket Heritage & Archaeology and am looking forward to supporting their extensive client base on projects ranging from million pound on-shore wind farms to privately owned listed buildings. I have a particular interest in supporting community archaeology having been lead archaeologist for Dig Dunfermline and a range of other projects, and so outreach will also be a key focus in 2023.”
Craig Huddart, COO Rocket Group Ltd, commented, “Dr Klemen is a real asset to the team. In addition to the heritage and archaeology arm of the business, The Rocket Group offers the complete suite of consultancy services. Pete’s extensive experience and expertise will be invaluable as we help clients from a wide variety of sectors across Scotland navigate what can be a tricky planning system.
“Rocket is proud to have quickly developed a reputation for delivering realistic and understandable advice across disciplines and we are very much looking forward to Dr Klemen continuing to develop that reputation across Scotland.”
