ARUP energy leader Clare Lavelle was named Director of the Year at the 2023 Edinburgh Chamber of Commerce (ECC) Business Awards.
Clare has been part of Arup’s energy business leadership team since 2013, responsible for setting the direction of decarbonisation projects both north and south of the border.
She has led the delivery of projects including the Scottish Hydrogen Assessment Report, providing the Scottish Government with evidence to inform its hydrogen policy statement. Clare also led an appointed team of Arup experts to collaborate with Crown Estate Scotland, as specialist reviewers, on its first Scotwind leasing round. The process enabled developers to apply for seabed rights to plan and build wind farms in Scottish waters.
Clare said, “It is an honour to be recognised by the Edinburgh Chamber of Commerce as Director of the Year 2023. Arup has put sustainability as core to our mission, and my team are providing world leading expertise in the low carbon energy transition to government and industry. It’s a huge privilege to have even been included among the list of well deserving nominees for this category.”
