CEG has confirmed three new tenants at its flagship ONYX development at 215 Bothwell Street in Glasgow.
Ryden, Montagu Evans and Empiric are moving into the building. Ryden is taking the 2,295 sq ft ground floor suite, Emperic 1,798 sq ft on the first floor, and Montague Evans 1,798 sq ft on the second floor.
Derek Tillery, Glasgow managing partner for Ryden, said, “We required a new Glasgow base that would attract and retain the best talent. ONYX offers a contemporary and inspiring place to work. It is within easy reach of city centre amenities and transport hubs and provides very high speciation accommodation with exceptional wellbeing facilities and meeting our required green credentials.”
Following CEG managing a £5 million makeover of the building last year, it went on to win the British Council of Offices (BCO) Award for Best Refurbished/Recycled Workplace in Scotland.
CEG delivered a first phase of business space, which included traditional office suites and its flexible offer Let Ready, which means businesses can grow from 14 desks to whole floors without changing address.
New facilities were also delivered as part of the refurbishment, including a café run by Kitchenetta. CEG said sustainability was at the forefront, saving more than 40% embodied carbon by renovating rather than redeveloping, while equipment has been upgraded and technologies have made the building more energy efficient. 100% of waste was diverted from landfill and electricity is supplied via a renewable energy contract. Tenants can also benefit from cycle facilities and health club style shower facilities.
Grace Lewis, investment manager at CEG, added, “We are delighted to welcome so many new tenants to the ONYX business community. The refurbishment has provided a modern, healthy and productive working environment with the added bonus of an extensive café and business lounge. Our Let Ready suites have proved incredibly popular due to the innovative lease flexibility and the ease of the fully fitted out, contemporary space. Due to its success, we are already planning to roll out further studios to meet demand.”
JLL and Ryden are appointed to market the building
Alex Mackay, senior surveyor at JLL, said, “ONYX continues to lead the way in the Glasgow office market, and we are delighted to welcome new tenants to our already stellar line up. ONYX is a step change for commercial office space in Glasgow, offering high quality workplaces with the flexibility that occupiers are currently seeking. With more space on the way we cannot wait to welcome more businesses to ONYX.”
