MCCONNELL has announced it has strengthened its leadership team on the back of ‘stronger than forecasted’ growth, recent major framework successes and a ‘burgeoning’ secured order book.
The contractor revealed Kenny Downs has joined from Urban Union as group finance director.
The specialist roofing, cladding and coatings divisions in Scotland are being amalgamated into a single specialist works division, with Alex Gerrie joining the team as divisional director to work alongside existing divisional director Ken Wales. Alex was operations director at Q9 Cladding having started out in civil engineering, gaining experience with Kier, Lend Lease and Sir Robert McAlpine.
An internal promotion completes the team strengthening, with Craig Hartley stepping up to the role of SHEQ director. McConnell explained that Craig has spearheaded the business improvement processes that have been necessary to facilitate the firm’s transition from a specialist services provider to a principal contractor delivering multi-disciplined refurbishment schemes, supported by in-house specialist services.
Eamonn McGarvey, MD of McConnell, said, “These key appointments mark a significant step forward for McConnell. With a clear focus on delivery of our growth and diversification strategy, we are investing in people, we are balancing the development and progression of our existing team and supporting them with highly experienced external hires.
“Whilst we are experiencing an exciting period of growth, we continue to carefully structure our business at all levels to ensure that we provide strong delivery to meet our clients’ expectations. There have been many major recent successes across the UK for McConnell and we are confident that our future business plans are robust and aligned to current market conditions.”
