Repairs and maintenance organisation launches apprentice recruitment drive

INVERCLYDE-based repairs and maintenance organisation Home Fix Scotland (HFS) is recruiting for up to seven apprentices.

Prospective apprenticeships are being offered in joinery, electrical, plastering, and plumbing. Open to those aged 16 and above, the Apprenticeship Foundation programme involves four years of hands-on training to acquire an SCQF Level 6.

Candidates must have or be expecting to achieve, two National 5’s (or equivalent) in English and a craft-related subject such as craft & design, practical woodworking, practical craft skills, design & manufacture or design & technology.

Since being founded in 2018, Home Fix Scotland has trained more than nine apprentices with many still working within the company.

Derek Ferguson, MD at Home Fix Scotland, said, “Supporting the local workforce is something we’re incredibly passionate about and our apprenticeship programme offers applicants an exciting opportunity to glean valuable, on-site experience from the ground upwards. Our 2022 intake will be able to undertake trade apprentices, ensuring that they can go on to have a fulfilling and lasting career at Home Fix Scotland and across the building and maintenance sector.”
