Land acquired for 203-home Hamilton development

TAYLOR Wimpey West Scotland has acquired land for a new 203-home development off Meikle Earnock Road in Hamilton.

The move follows an Approval of Matters specified in Conditions (AMSC) planning consent, which was obtained in February from South Lanarkshire Council.

The housebuilder said the project forms part of the wider masterplan for the Brackenhill Farm area and is recognised as part of the Hamilton Community Growth area. Planning Permission in Principle (PPP) has already been secured and the AMSC planning consent sets out detailed proposals for housing mix, landscaping and building materials.

Taylor Wimpey added that the design of the development also follows the agreed design principles already set out in the masterplan which will see upgrades to Meikle Earnock Road, including continuation of the bus route and a new footpath network.

Caroline Proctor, land and planning director at Taylor Wimpey West Scotland, said, “We are pleased to have acquired this land for our development of new homes off Meikle Earnock Road in Hamilton. It represents a significant and continued investment in the local area by Taylor Wimpey West Scotland, and a return to Hamilton for our business.

“Our development will deliver 203 new homes, which form a key part of the Brackenhill Farm area masterplan that was granted Planning Permission in Principle in May 2017.

“As well playing our part in the delivery of new homes within the Brackenhill Farm masterplan, our development will provide a range of economic benefits for the local area which includes supporting over 160 jobs per year of construction, as well as the attraction of new customers to local businesses.”
