Housebuilder shows support for girls’ football in Scotland’s north east

STEWART Milne Homes has agreed two new girls’ football sponsorships across Aberdeenshire.

The housebuilder is supporting Alford youngster Holly Daniel (14), who has been selected as a player for the Scottish Schools’ Football Association’s U15 International Team.

Holly is the only representative from the north east to play in the team and will now go on to train with other young female players from across Scotland, ahead of competitive matches which kick off in April 2022.

Holly Daniel said, “I am really proud to have been selected for the International team and I am excited about the tournament in April. We also have a special home game against England in May to celebrate 50 years since the ban was lifted on women playing football, which is something very special to be a part of.”

Stewart Milne Homes has also become the official strip sponsor of the Grampian Athletic Girls U12 Football Club, which trains in Cove near the housebuilder’s Charleston development in the new coastal neighbourhood.

Neil Thomson, deputy MD at Stewart Milne Homes Scotland, said, “At Stewart Milne Homes we build the foundations for people to lead healthy lifestyles and supporting the local communities around our developments at Silver Birches in Alford and Charleston in Cove is very important to us. Local activities such as football can have a very positive impact on people’s lives, and we are proud to sponsor young footballer Holly Daniel as well as the Grampian Girls U12 Football Club.

“We’re rooting for them as they continue to train hard and importantly, represent women in football.”
