First of three £62m West Lothian school builds to open in August

THE new Winchburgh Academy is to open to pupils in August, West Lothian Council has announced.

It is one of three schools, alongside Sinclair Academy and Holy Primary Family School, being built as part of a £62 million investment into the ‘growing’ community of Winchburgh – which sits just ten miles from Edinburgh city centre.

The project is the West Lothian’s largest ever single investment in education, with hub South East delivering it alongside main contractor Morrison Construction.

Leader of West Lothian Council, Lawrence Fitzpatrick, said, “I hugely welcome the opening of the superb new Winchburgh Academy to pupils from August 2022. It’s a significant milestone in the £62 million project to deliver three state-of-the-art schools for our school estate, which is already one of the best in the country. Thanks to everyone who has worked hard to deliver this excellent new school on time and on budget.”
