A groundbreaking ceremony has taken place at the site of the build of the new £180 million Dunfermline Learning Campus.
Although enabling works led by BAM are already underway, the ceremony was a chance for those involved to welcome the works starting.
The facility is scheduled to open in 2024, and will feature industry-standard workshops for engineering and construction, a university hub, a purpose-built learning café, sports hall and an innovation and events hub.
In addition to the indoor facilities, the campus will be fully equipped with outdoor facilities, including a multi-use outdoor sports area, an external terrace, outdoor spaces for our childcare courses, external dining areas for the hospitality students, covered outdoor workshop areas for built environment courses, and a range of outdoor teaching and gathering areas.
Commenting on the work so far, Fife Council leader, councillor David Alexander, said, “I’m pleased to be here today, to see how work is progressing and to meet some of the young people who are going to benefit. We’re a step closer to a new learning campus in Dunfermline and an asset the whole community can benefit from.”
