CRUDEN Building has commenced work at two sites in Prestonpans to deliver over 40 ‘much needed’ affordable homes.

The developments, by Lar Housing Trust, at Jim Bush Drive and Northfields come on the back of an ‘extensive’ waiting list in the area.

The Northfields site will feature 26 homes made up of three one-bed flats, 19 two-bed flats and four three bed houses. Whilst the build at Jim Bush Drive will deliver 16 two-bed flats including two accessible ground floor properties.

Allan Callaghan, MD of Cruden Building, said, “We are delighted to carry on the strong working relationship previously forged between The Cruden Group and Lar as we begin work on these exciting new developments in Prestonpans to deliver 42 high-quality homes with retail units.”

Local MSP, Paul McLennan welcomed Lar Housing’s commitment to the area at a sod-cutting ceremony to mark the start of the work. He said, “I’ve been incredibly impressed by the quality of the developments Lar Housing Trust has delivered already in East Lothian.  I’m delighted to be able to support their newest development in the county and look forward to seeing this important development opportunity increasing the range of affordable homes in Prestonpans at a time when East Lothian continues to grow.

“Having a warm, well designed and affordable home in the heart of your community is a critical pillar to achieving wellbeing. Lar Housing Trust’s model of delivery has huge potential to reach many more across the country.”

Both developments are expected to be ready for tenants by spring 2023.
