EMPLOYEES from City Building have raised almost £12,000 for charity after conquering the UK’s highest mountains for Glasgow Children’s Hospital Charity.
Travelling from Wales to England and back to Scotland, a team of eight City Building staff took on the Three Peaks challenge in just three days. Encompassing Snowdon, Scafell Pike and Ben Nevis, the challenge requires a total ascent of 3,064 metres.
The team, which included employees from a variety of divisions across the business, raised £11,700 for Glasgow Children’s Hospital Charity, which is City Building’s corporate partner for this year.
Jason Pearson, Glasgow City Council’s divisions manager, who was among the Three Peaks walkers, said, “Glasgow Children’s Hospital Charity is a wonderful organisation, providing indispensable support to those who need it most. As our corporate partner, and amidst the charity’s 20th anniversary celebrations, it was a unanimous decision to fundraise for GCHC.
“There was such a strong sense of camaraderie in the group, and we were very chuffed with the total. While it was a challenge, it made for some great team building and we are already putting plans in place for next year.”
William McGowan, head of partnerships at Glasgow Children’s Hospital Charity, commented, “We rely entirely on fundraising and donations to fund our life-changing projects and support services which care for young patients, their families and our NHS heroes.
